New Clarivate AI Tool Speeds Up Patent Intelligence and Strategic Insights

Clarivate Plc, a global provider of transformative intelligence, announced the launch of Derwent Patent Monitor. It will expedite intellectual property (IP), research and development (R&D), and collaborative patent reviews, all while determining patentability, assessing freedom to operate (FTO), and evaluating opposition or assertion.

Derwent Patent Monitor, which was developed using proprietary data, provides AI-powered assessment of possible threats, speeding up first-pass evaluations (Threat Analysis) to highlight the most important concerns for stakeholders. Patent experts can go forward more swiftly and confidently due to this functionality.

Shandon Quinn, Vice President, Patent Intelligence, Clarivate, said,

“One of the biggest challenges IP leaders mention to me is upgrading their team’s partnership with R&D for filing stronger patents and minimizing infringement risk.  Yet too often the process is slowed down by siloed teams and disjointed tools and processes. Derwent Patent Monitor is the first tool of its kind to bring together flexible collaboration and review workflows, unique Derwent patent data and AI technology to help teams quickly identify potential risks and accelerate critical IP decisions for FTO, opposition and patent filing.”

The Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI), the world’s largest database of over 67 million invention summaries authored by more than 850 Clarivate subject matter experts, is the source of the new software’s exclusive data, which helps collaborators evaluate patents of interest more quickly.

With organized, project-based reviews and real-time feedback, Derwent Patent Monitor, which was designed with cooperation in mind, helps patent teams increase productivity and save time by doing away with the need for dispersed emails and spreadsheets.

A quicker, more integrated patent monitoring process is made possible by teams becoming more coordinated and knowledgeable about important reviews.
